This oil tank belonged to the home in the background.  In many floods, unanchored oil tanks cause environmental damage.  Tanks should be anchored and vented properly.

This stream is between the Little Buttermilk and First Buttermilk ponds in the town of Bowerbank and is part of the natural floodplain.  If there is above normal flow, but no development, is there still a flood??

This new Boothbay home was built after the Program’s Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) went into effect (Post-FIRM Structure).  The house is in a Velocity Zone which means it will experience a minimum 3 foot wave height during a base flood event and will probably have a much higher wave experience.
